Another great barefoot run this morning. The hardy runners who turned up faced a wet and muddy course, but were spared the freezing grass of three weeks ago – its getting easier eh
This event had a twist – not only was it key too go as hard as you can, but also there was reward for running at an even pace. After a few lead changes at the start (Bryce and Nigel each taking a turn at the front) Mike Lichtwark moved up and stayed ahead to take the line honours. But it was the super consistent Trav Reynolds who took the most even pace award, earning the 20 point maximum by keeping his out and back times within 5 seconds of each other. A quick glance at the splits shows that there was good pace judgement throughout the field, and runners tended to be faster coming back than going out. Todd showed his hurdling ability when he cleared a fence in a single bound. Then the slippery ground showed who was boss when he jumped into the next fence and bounced straight backwards. Thanks again to our great officials Jenny and Stu : )
Results of today:
|7/8/10||Out||Back||Total||Difference||Relative diff||Time points||Pace Points||Total Points|
This leaves Mike Lichtwark with a narrow 1 point lead in the series over Mike Hale. But with two events to go, there is potential for plenty of movement. Each run is worth forty points, and your best three runs count for final points (including the final run).
Next barefoot invitational is on Saturday August 28. It will be a pair elimination run on a hilly course, so bring along a pal to be your running team. Special bonus for any team which includes a female member : )
See you then, (or at the Xterra at Whitford next Sunday 15)
