Another beauty of a barefoot in the park!
The race had some good battles, and good bails in the slippy off-camber downhill.
Will Thomson took it out with a great performance, making his move in the second lap and never looking back. Ron King made a late surge on the 4th lap to try catch him but had to settle for second, with Mike Hale back in third.
Great pacing from Will, Ron and Ryan – the classic ‘u-shaped’ lap splits without too much slowing down in the middle. Richard and Charles also achieved good pacing with very even splits, except for their overly fast first laps.
Fastest lap of the day goes to Ron on his fourth lap – hammer down in an attempt to catch Will. Best finish must surely be Richard’s slide across, only .4 of a second behind Dave.
The splits and points are available in the attached spreadsheet. On review, it was decided by the organiser to include the third race points, and take the three best finishes to count for the series title (as per the original plan). It came down to one point, but in the end our champion finished the season with a dominant display in the last two races.
The Maungakiekie Endurance Club’s Barefoot Champion for 2010 is Will Thomson! Well done mate.
