We are spoilt for great places to run. I was actually feeling a little envious of those runners who live in alpine regions with huge ridges to climb. Auckland has a few hills, but to paraphrase Shakira they are small and humble… not to be confused with a mountain. My envy was quickly corrected though, when reading some comments from age group placegetters at this year’s Boston marathon. Half of them had to train on treadmills for much (ie 80%) of their buildup as the snow was too deep to get out in. The thought of a treadmill run makes me shudder, so let the new-found thankfulness at “All-conditions-Auckland” training endure!
On Saturday I had a superb run at one of my favourite courses, our 10k loop at Bethells Beach. A real run for the soul. Mike, me and Myles knocked out 3 laps (a club best) in 2:49. Great stuff.
