The MEC is a group of outdoors enthusiasts dedicated to maximising the good times on the trails. We believe that a good group of mates can make a good race better and can get you out the door when your resolve is weak. We get through the tough sessions by tackling them with a buddy or two, and we share the stories of the battles and bails we experience in each event.
We’re not elite and definitely not elitist – we’re all-comers who like to race hard.
We do running, cycling, swimming, trekking, orienteering, coasteering… any event that demands of your cardio-respiratory resources. We especially like wild events (why pay to run on a treadmill when you can slide down a mud-caked trail overlooking the Tasman sea for free?)
If you are keen, you are in. The qualification is motivation, and even that can be imparted if you are running a little low. Get amongst for some great memories, self discovery and fierce comradery.

This would be really fun. My sister is organising it so trying to get as much support as possible. Could be followed by a lunch and lazy afternoon at the cafe which is 3km down the road from school. Its for a great cause and would be neat for kids to visit a rural school. Views on the run are stunning and the course has some good hills, mud and a lake to run around. Spread the word if you think your running peoples would be keen. 🙂 Link not working at the moment but working on that.
Waikaretu School is a small rural school and this fun run is our major fundraising event for the year.
This exciting new Fun Run takes participants over scenic farmland, with views down a picturesque valley and out to the west coast.
It is an all off-road run, over an up and down course, with a beautiful back drop.
Is a perfect opportunity to get out with friends and family with a range of distances to choose from.
